Developing Teacher Competencies for Teaching Evolution across the Primary School Curriculum: A Design Study of a Pre-Service Teacher Education Module

Numerous studies indicate that evolutionary concepts can and should be taught at the primary school level. However, teaching evolution in is presumably not yet norm globally. At same time, educational potential of lies their applicability to many curriculum topics natural social sciences. Capitalizing on this requires broad teacher content knowledge (CK) pedagogical (PCK) about concepts. much known regarding ways develop CK PCK during pre-service training. In article, we present iterative design, implementation, mixed methods formative evaluation (based a design-based research framework) education module. Its aim was promote development CK, PCK, as well motivation confidence for across curriculum. Results teachers supported motivated teach various themes through semester long course.
